Financial Literacy Workshops
- Economic Empowerment
in East Jerusalem
MATI recognizes the need to empower Arab residents of East Jerusalem through financial literacy education, preparing them for success in the Israeli workplace and reducing economic disparities. We run financial literacy workshops to enable East Jerusalem residents to engage with Jerusalem's broader economy from a position of strength, while simultaneously strengthening their communities by building economic self-sufficiency and resilience.

Teaching Financial Skills
MATI offers entrepreneurs a program of six workshops of two hours each, led by trained experts: lawyers, accountants, social workers, and financial advisors. Participants learn to differentiate types of expenses, eliminate debt, shop smartly by distinguishing needs from wants, read pay slips, understand employee rights and taxes, and navigate banking operations, including cultural interactions with Israeli bank employees. Each participant receives a personal consultation with a lawyer or accountant after they complete the course.
Specialist Support
The Financial Literacy program operates simultaneously across eight sites in Jerusalem, serving diverse audiences and tailored to their specific needs. Currently we are working with entrepreneurs, local school teachers and parents, engaged couples and newly-weds, unemployed women, people seeking employment in academia, people with motor skills impairments, members of MATI’s Youth at Risk program and TIFLI program for daycare workers.
